Growth Factors?

Growth factors are proteins that occur in many different organisms like plants, insects, and animals including humans. They play a huge role in regulating cellular growth, proliferation, and differentiation.
Growth factors were first discovered in the 1950s and the scientists who led the research were awarded the Nobel Prize in 1986. Growth factors’ application in skin care products along with its pharmaceutical and dermatological researches have been expanding ever since.

Growth Factors consist of many subfamilies including epidermal growth factor, fibroblast growth factor, insulin-like growth factor, erythropoietin, hematopoietic, just to name a few.

EGF - Epidermal Growth Factor

FGF - Fibroblast Growth Factors

IGF - Insulin-like Growth Factor

IGF(a.k.a. somatomedin) majorly functions as cell growth and multiplication booster. The name originates from its another ability to decrease glucose levels in the blood. IGF is synthesized tissues and in the liver and increases the cell size and number of tissues and bones.
